VAPORI
Pronounced vah-POH-ret, from the Greek, Βαπόρι, “boat, ship, vesel”)
An Athenian naval base in 378 BC, a shipyard as of the 18th century and boasting a long tradition in caique building using wood from the indigenous pine forests, Skiathos is also the place where the very first Greek flag was woven in 1807. Vapori gives a heartfelt nod to all things marine and maritime.
(Pronounced THA-lah-ssah ste-RIAH), from the Greek θάλασσα στεριά , sea land”)
On a beach on the island of Skiathos, sea and land are perpetually engaged in weathering unique stones and virtually empowering them with a life of their own. In this pristine spot, where sea and land define a distinct and timeless territory, Thalassa Steria -flowery and fresh- comes alive, too, to tell you its very own story…
“It only took a moment to fall in love with the vineyards as I saw the monks cultivating them on Kyra-Panagia where I had to drop anchor one day due to stormy weathe It has taken many years but now we have fermented and bottled our own wine with grapes from our vineyards. We hope you enjoy it!”
(Pronounced eh-PEE-TOH-pou, from the Greek επί τόπον, on the spot, in situ)
From the island of Skiathos, a refreshing blend of Assyrtiko and Roditis: crisp, mineral and indelibly influenced by the maritime aura of the Aegean Archipelago.
(Pronounced an-TEE-the-ssi. from the Greek αντίθεση, ‘contrast, the exact opposite’)
From the verdant island of Skiathos, a crisp blend of Malagousia and Assyrtiko: disciplined yet relaxed, maritime yet earthy, equally enjoyable in the sun and in the shade, elegant and thoroughly cosmopolitan like the island itself.
